I SHOULD like to congratulate Mr Margrett on his good sense (Letters, Monday, April 11).
He does not attempt to defend our disgraceful, corrupt, and thoroughly rotten first-past-the-post" electoral system, which has given us a Prime Minister, and a Labour Government, six out of 10 of us didn't want, and moreover didn't elect.
But Mr Margrett does me a disservice. I am not obsessed with the myth that the UK is being taken over by the European Union. They don't have to "take us over."
Politicians, who have ducked and dodged informed public debate over Europe, as if it were the plague, are giving our country away. As far as I am concerned, Europe is a disaster. We seem to be the only idiots daft enough to "play by the rules."
And I suspect that if Mr Margrett actually knew what he was talking about, with regard to Europe, he too would be tilting at windmills alongside UKIP.
UKIP is one of the few parties that give us a real choice not to be part of Europe.
Mr Margrett is also not the first to lambast America with the now- obligatory socialist mantra. But while he attempts to belittle America, that country guarantees the right of her people to free speech. Labour is banning it.
N TAYLOR,
Worcester.
