A SPECIAL tree with a vibrant autumn display has been planted by a long-established gardening society to mark two special anniversaries.
The Spetchley and District Gardener's Society met earlier this month for the tree planting, which looks backward to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee, and forward to the society's 50th anniversary.
The society's president, John Berkeley, who owns and runs Spetchley Park and Gardens, planted the Parrotia Persica at the annual meeting of the society earlier this month.
The society's chairman, David Mathews, explained that the tree was commemorative for past and future occasions.
It marks the Jubilee in 2002, and the 50th anniversary of the society in 2009.
"We realised we were in the middle of everything, so we decided to call it a commemorative tree," said Mr Mathews.
"It will look splendid by the society's 50th anniversary," he added.
