HOPES of unearthing exciting archaeological finds at Worcester's Commandery took a massive boost yesterday when two members of television's Time Team announced the results of a special survey.
The crew carried out a two-day 'geofizz' at the Royalist Civil War HQ ahead of a five-week excavation in the summer.
"We have been looking at the former Commandery gardens and we've found evidence of a lot of potential former building outlines," said archaeological geophysicist Dan Shiel.
"For the two days we have been here, the magnetometer has been screaming and all pointers indicate the presence of mediaeval remains."
With colleague James Adcock, another regular on the highly-popular TV programme, fronted by Tony Robinson, Dan has been using highly-sensitive equipment to record the presence of solid objects such as walls and old foundations, and former ditches and earthworks.
They will reveal their full findings in about two weeks' time. These will be used to direct experts when the five-week dig begins on Tuesday, June 21.
