I'M delighted that we ended our league campaign at St George's Lane in the right manner.

Droylsden are a very strong side and it was the first time we had competed against a team high up the league table since the Southport game on my return to Worcester.

It was an excellent team performance and I hope it left our supporters looking forward to next season. They certainly seemed to appreciate our efforts when we walked off the pitch.

Hopefully, we can build on that display and take the momentum into the new Nationwide North campaign.

It was important after losing two consecutive games to Altrincham and Barrow that we did not lose another. We desperately wanted to avoid a third defeat on the trot going into the last game of the season at Gainsborough Trinity.

We've now won nine out of the last 13 and drawn two, so I still believe we are on a good run.

It would be great to end the season in style at The Northolme and finish in seventh place above Redditch United.

There's plenty of rivalry with Redditch. We are the bigger club, there's no doubt about that, but the wages they are on at Redditch defies belief.

Their wage bill is a lot greater than ours, so it would be a terrific feat for us to have the upper hand on them in terms of our league position.

It's difficult to say how our budget compares with other Nationwide North clubs, but I would guess we would be in mid-table. There is quite a big gap from us to the league's big payers.

Stalybridge have survived relegation and I'm sure they will be strong next season because they are big spenders. There is also the likes of Alfreton and Hinckley with good resources.

So for us to challenge the top payers, it will be about good management, bringing in the right players, getting the best out of the players and getting the balance right.

Going back to the Droylsden victory, it was pleasing to see Jai Stanley in good form and among the goals.

Jai struck two great finishes, the second in particular was quality.

It was all about reading the ball. We've been talking about reading knock-downs, having a look at where the ball goes and trying to read where it drops. If you can do that, you have a chance of a shot on goal and Jai did that.

There were good performances throughout the team. John Snape came in and did a great job with Paul Carty out suspended.

Liam McDonald and James Smith worked their socks off, the wing-backs Les Hines and Rob Warner were excellent, while Barry Woolley was strong at the back and he did a great job containing Droylsden's striker David Cameron.

Andy Morrison has done a fair bit of work on Barry in training, giving him specific jobs to do and working hard on different areas of his game. It has paid off because in the last three or four weeks, Barry has been outstanding.

Finally, I was delighted for both Adam Webster and Tom Warmer with regards to their end-of-season awards.

Webby fully deserved all three awards that came his way. Since I came to the club, the amount of goals he has scored is phenomenal. His contribution has been valuable and when we've been under pressure, he's come up with the goods.
