Shirley Walker, our president, opened our April meeting. She welcomed everyone but particularly Kath Davis, our group president, Gwen Creswell, who has returned following a nasty fall, Norah Byng, who always comes back to visit us when she's in our part of the country and Aileen Stride, who has recently moved back into our area.
Shirley invited everyone to sing Happy Birthday to Aileen, who was celebrating her 93rd birthday in the next few days.
Maggie Mason read through the minutes of the last meeting. Pauline Wilkes took members through the correspondence, which included a resolution meeting Fairfield is hosting tomorrow (April 28), and Pat Kenyon's report on the half-yearly council meeting at which Nick Owen was the main speaker.
Other dates for the diary: April 25, produce show meeting, May 11, biscuits please! June 8, garden meeting, July 20, walk and supper.
Our speaker was Gordon Forrest, who gave a most interesting talk illustrated with slides. Gordon began by telling us a little about Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, one of 47 across the British Isles.
There are currently 86 reserves in Worcestershire and the trust has more than 1,500 members.
The competition for a tea-towel depicting wildlife was won by Winny Condliffe, with Shiela Morris 2nd and Sheila Truman 3rd. Next meeting is on May 11, resolutions and cookery competition 'Biscuits.'
Members and visitors please do come along and join us for what you can see is an evening full of friendship, entertainment and information!
