REDDITCH and Studley cricket clubs played their first game of the season against each other on Saturday.
In the friendly 45-over match Redditch stuttered to 175-9 with Jack Williams top scoring with 35 and Russell Southwick not far behind with 28.
But Birmingham League Division Two outfit Studley battled to their target and managed to reach 180-8 to win by two wickets.
Studley seconds also got the better of Redditch seconds as Mike Pownell smashed an unbeaten 113. The home side finished on 206-5 but in reply Redditch seconds could only manage 140-7 leaving Studley 66-runs to the good. Geoff Eley top scored for Redditch with 76.
On Sunday Redditch took on Bloxwich in another 45-over friendly and the Bromsgrove Road outfit raced away to 229 all out thanks to 62s from Simon Allison and Steve Rose.
Bloxwich could only manage 85 thanks to some decent bowling from Liam Phelan who finished on figures of 4-21 and Steve Haines 3-15.
