PRESIDENT Sue Whiteside's chosen charity for the year is Birmingham Focus on Blind, so it was with pleasure that Carol Smith, Multiple Disability Service Manager, and Liz Shaw, Manager, Day Services, were welcomed.
They spoke about the support available for those with sight impairment and others with multi disabilities that often include some degree of blindness.
While social services provide the basics, the centre relies heavily on fund-raising events in all forms.
The Activity Centre in Harborne specialises in living skills and training with computers, offering essential communication and independence, which previously may have been denied to them.
Sue was delighted to donate a cheque towards a planned waterbed and multi-sensory room at the centre.
Forthcoming events include an overseas district rally to be held in Droitwich and a beetle drive.
