THE April meeting was organised by an ad hoc committee, leaving the elected committee to relax and enjoy the evening after dealing with business matters, which included reports of visits to Bentley Pauncefoot, the 40th birthday party of Crabbs Cross & Hunt End and the Saltways group meeting at Hanbury. The final meeting of the Redditch Group of WI's, hosted by Crabbs Cross & Hunt End had been a super evening and Nonny James, of BBC Hereford & Worcester, had been an excellent all-round entertainer, raconteur, singer and musician.
The annual council meeting in Malvern with speakers Nick Owen, of Midlands Today, and Mike George, of BBC Hereford & Worcester, had been an enjoyable day.
Jenny Hanks reported the Ipsley team had won their last two skittles games and was thanked for organising the matches.
Jackie Gregory was chairman on the ad hoc committee and introduced speaker Madeleine Goold, who spoke about 25 years with peacocks.
She is an authority on these beautiful and exotic birds.
Other members of the evening's committee were Lorna White, Secretary, Muriel Clarke, Liz Williams and Ann Bush.
The flower of the month competition was won by Judith Scott with a pieris.
The next meeting will be the annual resolutions meeting with Susanne Owen, recently retired federation chairman, at Woodfield Middle School at 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 11.
