ON APRIL 9 the annual show took place, this year the society's 40th anniversary.
There were four excellent visiting society displays and a new trophy, the Janet James Shield for best visiting society, was awarded to Worcester Orchid Society.
Ian Plested gave an interesting talk on growing orchids on the window sill, while Peter White and Roger Bowdens gave well-attended potting demonstrations.
The members' classes were well supported with a total of 77 entries, including four members' small table displays, which were very well presented.

Martin Mitchell, Trevor Turton Cup for best Paphiopedilum; Brian Walker, Dendrobium Trophy for best Dendrobium; Brian Cope, Vaderville Trophy for best species; Mike Harris, Wyld Court Cup for best Lycaste; Mike Harris, Shirley Goblet for best Cymbidium; Joan Wood, Harry Wilshaw Goblet novice class; Brian Cope, Peter White Trophy for best Pleurothallid; Luke Lindsey, the Junior Cup.
For most points awarded at monthly table shows - The Bedlam Trophy for Hybrids was awarded to Fred & Joan Smith and The Committee Trophy for Species was wan by Janet James.
Only surviving founder member Bob Harris was able to attend for a short time and everyone was delighted to see him.
