MEMBERS of the Kidderminster branch present at the fourth AGM re-elected the outgoing committee en bloc.
Professional photographer Mike Wilkes presented his Spanish ornithological theme for the evening. Members were shown scenes of rollers nesting in rocks with bee-eaters as neighbours and were also treated to a wonderful array of resident and migratory birds, many of which visit the UK and an insight into the country's flora and fauna.
Although a chilly morning, it was an excellent outdoor meeting at Severn Valley Country Park, Alveley, both in terms of support and number of species identified.
The antics of a chiff chaff, willow warbler and grey wagtail and the darting and diving of a kingfisher were of particular interest.
The next indoor meeting will be on today when Gerry Griffiths will lead and ''in-house'' identification workshop. Non members are always welcome and it is hoped this evening will appeal to new and novice birdwatchers, particularly the younger generation.
Anyone interested is invited to St Oswald's Church Centre, Broadwaters, Kidderminster, at 7.30pm. There is a small admission charge to include light refreshments.
On Sunday, May 1, the outdoor meeting will be to the Shropshire Wildlife Trust's Venus Pool Nature Reserve, just off the A458 between Cressage and Cross Houses, meeting in the car park at 10am.
Anyone interested in wildlife, birdlife and conservation in general is welcome to join both indoor and outdoor meetings. For more details, call 01562 67748.
