A PROLIFIC Hunt End writer has focused on the fascinating history of Redditch in her latest book.
Anne Bradford, of Enfield Road, is celebrating the publication of her fourth book on local history - Old Redditch Voices - following three years of dedicated research.
The 400-page illustrated book is divided into more than 20 chapters ranging from how the town was formed and the industrial revolution, through to memories of Redditch during the Second World War.
Some of her main sources of information included former Redditch Council Leader Albert Wharrad, current town councillors Betty Passingham and Andy Fry and Freeman of the town Walter Stranz.
Mrs Bradford, 66, has also included a chapter on the history of her home district of Hunt End, which she believes has not been written about before.
"In the last three years, I have not watched any television or read any books - I have just been working really hard speaking to lots of people," said Mrs Bradford, who is better known for her books on the supernatural.
"By the end of it, there was just so much information and I didn't want to leave anything out - it was all too good."
She added: "I really enjoyed writing this. It's wonderful to write a book about the town in which you live. And I already have a lot of stuff for the next book."
The book will be launched at Forge Mill Museum on Sunday from 2-4pm.
