WORCESTERSHIRE Acute Hospitals NHS Trust Board has a new non-executive director, Rosemary Adams.
Mrs Adam's began her career with the NHS in Worcestershire in 1966 as a clinical scientist and then went on to take the lead on the scientific and technical output of the biochemistry laboratory at Worcester Royal Infirmary.
In the 1990s she developed an interest in clinical audit for biochemistry and led the development of this subject for several years, across the West Midlands and nationally. This was recognised within the Trust by her joint appointment with Dr Alistair Munro as co-director of clinical audit.
She progressed from this position to take on responsibility for the Trust-wide introduction and development of clinical governance, a wide-ranging process which ensures that patients receive the safest and best possible care. When the Worcestershire Trusts merged in 2000 she took early retirement and become an independent contractor, delivering training to a wide range of healthcare staff, particularly on clinical risk and patient safety
"Throughout my career I have endeavoured to put the interests of patients first and I will continue to do so in my new position as a non-executive director," Mrs Adams said. "I am looking forward to supporting the work the Trust is doing to deliver the highest quality healthcare."
Welcoming Rosemary's appointment, Trust chairman Michael O'Riordan said: "I am sure her knowledge and experience will enable her to make a valuable contribution to our efforts to continually improve the care we offer our patients."
