BEING a chorister is about more than just singing - that is the message that will be put across at an open morning at Hereford Cathedral.
The event is being held at the city cathedral on Saturday, May 7, between 10am and 11.15am and head chorister Tim Hanks and his fellow colleagues will be explaining the other events they are involved in.
Last month, the group of boys were runners-up in the West of England chorister football championship, after winning it last year, and one member also recently abseiled down the cathedral tower.
During the last three years the choristers have also been on two tours of the United States, recorded a CD, been filmed for television and have broadcast each year on national radio.
The open morning is an opportunity for boys aged six to eight, who might be interested in joining the choir, to come with their parents to the cathedral and experience one of the daily practices.
Members of the cathedral's music department, along with parents of current choristers, will be in College Hall in the Cathedral Cloisters for the event.
Details of choristerships can be found on the cathedral website www.herefordcathedral.org
