FIVE Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club riders finished inside 24 minutes at the Stratford 10-mile time- trial, held on the Evesham by-pass.

Steve Burns was the first club finisher, recording 23 minutes five seconds for sixth place overall.

Dave Barnes came eighth in 23-05 while Dave Wood finished in 23-50, closely followed by Richard Pedersen 23-52 and Kris Doms 23-55. John Callaghan recorded 24-11, Mick Gray 28-11 and David Prior 31-11.

Pedersen and Doms scooped a Wyre Forest one-two in the middle-markers' category, Pedersen beating a 30-rider field to take the Graham Chandler Trophy for first place and Doms second.

The overall winner was Scott Rose, of Science in Sports, in 21-24.

Gary Hartram and Mike Hpkins took part in the League of Veteran Racing Cyclists' Staffordshire Oakcake road race.

The 55-mile race was run on an undulating course at Swynnerton when the bunch set a fast pace for the first points, in the Percy Stallard series. The race ended in a bunch sprint, which included Bartram and Hopkins. Pedersen and Doms were tired from the previous day and retired on the second of five laps.

Paul Prince rode the 64-mile Denbigh road race in north Wales on a seven-lap course, where he got into an early break of three riders, but was chased back.

Despite several attempts to get away, Prince crossed the line in the bunch for a top 20 finish in the 80-rider field.

Chris Morris came within 16 seconds of victory at the Rugby "hilly" 13-mile time-trial on Sunday. The Stourport cyclist, who rides for the MJS Racing team, came home in second place in 32 minutes and three seconds over the tough course.
