SENSEI Solfrid Daniels took gold in the ladies black belt kata and adult senior team kata at the Kimura Shukokai national championships, at the Crystal Leisure Centre, Stourport.

In all the Tsunami Karate Club took home 19 medals, having competed against clubs from all over the country under the guidance of sensei Daniels and sensei Dave Powell.

Other gold medal winners: Sophie Powell (girls 10-12 years kumite), Edward Mitchell (adult junior grade kumite), Michael Rowles (adult junior grade kata - his first gold), Natasha Baker (cadet junior grade individual kata - in her first ever competition).

Silver winners: Kara Bennett (ladies black belt and adult senior team kata), Emily Powell (girls 15/17 years kumite, and adult senior grade team kata), S Powell (adult senior team kata - although only aged 12), Mitchell (adult junior grade kata), Baker (cadet junior grade team kata), Matt Wooldridge (c adet junior grade team kata), Laura Cole (cadet junior grade team kata).

Bronze winners: Bennett (ladies kumite), E Powell (cadet black belt kata), Chris Ingle (over-35 years kumite and adult brown belt kata).

Also taking part were Teresa Lye, Tony Baker and Jack Brown.

Sensei Daniels, sensei Powell, E Powell and Bennett (all members of the SKF national squad) are now focusing towards the KSI European championships, to be held in Estonia later in the year.
