BEWDLEY Town kept up the pressure on league leaders Great Wyrley by securing a home win against seventh place Blackheath Town.
From the kick-off, Bewdley looked comfortable and a quickly taken free kick on nine minutes by Chris Hough saw top striker Lewis Pountney open the scoring.
The home supporters thought it was looking to be a comfortable win, but the visitors fought hard and held them to the end of the first half.
But an error from Blackheath's keeper on 65 minutes settled Bewdley nerves when he spilled a Gary Middleton free kick in the six-yard box and Ben McLoughan gratefully fired home the loose ball. Chances were few and far between from then on, but Bewdley did enough to extend their impressive unbeaten run to 13 games.
Spokesman Paul Lacey said: "We've almost secured promotion to the Premier Division.
"Well done to the managers, coaches, and backroom staff for their superb work on and off the pitch.
"But a special "well done" to the lads for their ability, commitment and teamwork."
Bewdley travelled to Riverway last night and visit Wednesbury Town on Saturday at 2.45pm.
