NATHAN DESMOND

Conservative

I believe that being a local councillor is all about hard work and dedication towards the people who elected me. Having held ward surgeries and met many people throughout the ward, it is clear that Wyre Forest people deserve better representation at County Hall than they have had in the past.

In St Marys, I have successfully campaigned to save Foley Park Post Office, for litter free streets and road and pavement improvements.

I have been instrumental in campaigning for a safer environment in which to live. I have set up an Urban Safety Group to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

I am a cabinet member for leisure and community safety on the district council, a local school governor, board member of Wyre Forest Commun-ity Housing and sit on the planning development control and licensing committees at Wyre Forest.

As a resident of this division, I am a strong voice for St Marys.

HELEN DYKE

Liberal Democrat

Councillor Helen Dyke has been a district councillor for more than nine years and has a reputation for hard work, action and results. Although she deals with many issues at district level, she feels that residents in Wyre Forest are being sold short by the Conserv-ative-led county council.

Our local bus services are appalling, roads and pavements are in a terrible condition, and when repaired the workmanship is poor. Litter is getting worse, policing is poor and local parents were ignored during the Wyre Forest Schools Review. This hardly shows a record of Worcestershire County Council working for residents in Wyre Forest.

Helen Dyke has a proven record of standing up for the people she represents and it is obvious that a new voice is needed for the St Mary's division to make clear that the people of the area are important, their views count and they should have a say about the decisions taken at County Hall.

HOWARD MARTIN

Health Concern

As Independent Health Concern county councillor for Hoobrook for the last four years, I have built up a tremendous knowledge of the problems and issues facing the local community. I now hope you will give me the opportunity to serve you in the newly expanded St Mary's Division.

My priorities will be:

Redevelopment of the British Sugar site.

Better community safety - more "beat bobbies."

Skills training for the young to improve employment prospects.

More money for maintenance of minor roads.

A strong voice on countywide health issues.

Tighter controls on county council spending to control Council Tax.

A sensible deal for Wyre Forest schools - the education our children deserve - properly funded.

Experience, commitment, time, independence and an understanding of local issues are worth so much more than traditional party politics.

PAUL MILLS

Labour

I am 45 years old and married with three children, all in full-time education. I have lived in Wyre Forest all of my life and worked at Brintons for 28 years.

I am a senior official for the Community Union, including chairman of Brintons branch secretaries committee and chairman of Community Union West Midlands joint branch committee.

am a committed Labour Party activist and currently trade union liaison officer for the Wyre Forest constituency.

I believe that we need to:

Tackle the ongoing problems of anti-social behaviour by working closely with the police, council and housing associations.

Resolve the public transport problems caused by Tory rail privatisation and bus deregulation.

Continue the fight for more money for our local schools and to deliver the best health service we can for local people.

Attract new manufacturing to our area and support the existing business.

MIKE PRICE

Liberal Party - Focus Save Our Hospital

Constituency Liberal Party chairman Mike Price supports the Oldington Pathway Project and development of the extended school on the Birchen Coppice site.

While also supporting possible development of an extended St Mary's School, he is appalled at the closure of Lea Street School which will hit many Aggborough families hard.

There is an urgent need for economic regeneration in the Horsefair and along the Stourport Road.

Bring British Sugar Site back into employment use.

Sort out the chaos of the Tory school closures.

Continue the fight to get back A&E and a birthing centre.

More police on the beat tackling crime, nuisance and drugs.

Fight off the threat of Government spending on "Supporting People" which will hit elderly hardest.

A decent public transport concessionary fare scheme for the elderly.

Tackle the appalling state of roads and pavements, public transport and traffic flow problems.
