THE club's first outing was held on Saturday, April 15, when members travelled to Birmingham University earth sciences department, Lapworth Museum.

There they saw a exhibition of geographical specimens from the West Midlands which had been prepared following a recent talk by the curator of the museum. Members also visited the Barber Institute of Fine Arts gallery, and the University's Botanic Garden.

The next outing will be on Tuesday, May 24 when Brian Draper MBE will lead a tour, following the River Severn from Shrewsbury, through Welshpool, to the Clywedog Reservoir. Anyone wishing to join this outing is asked to telephone the booking secretary on 01562 752929.
