THE driver of a car that plummeted into the River Stour in Kidderminster escaped serious injury after kicking his way out through a window while the car was floating in the water.
The Kidderminster man, in his 20s, told police the Honda went through the barrier on St Mary's Ring Road, at around 8am yesterday, after skidding on a damp surface.
He was taken to Kidderminster Hospital's minor injuries unit, cold and suffering from shock.
The vehicle was recovered and a structural engineer checked for damage.
The Spennells Valley Road and Spennells estate in Kidderminster were also grid-locked, yesterday morning, following a separate collision on the A448 Bromsgrove Road.
No-one was injured in the accident, which involved two cars and happened at around 7.20am.
However, a lorry, which was not involved in the accident, caught fire and firefighters attended.
Two people were also taken to hospital following an accident involving two cars in Shatterford at around 4pm on Tuesday.
