Corse Church will be opening its doors for a countryside weekend from Friday to Sunday, May 13-15, beginning with a concert of country songs on Friday, relaxing vocal music with a glass of wine and nibbles.
The church will be decorated with flower arrangements and will be open on May 14-15 from 2pm-5pm, with cake and plant stalls on May 14 only. Also over the weekend, beautiful gardens will be open, tickets will be £1 a garden or £3 to visit all four local gardens and children will be free.
There will be a watercolour exhibition by local artists at Woodside Farm, Hasfield from 10am-5pm and the weekend will close with an informal service of songs of praise at St Margaret's Church at 6pm. All proceeds are in aid of St Margaret's and for further information, ring (01452) 780599.
A joint event in the form of a fashion show was an outstanding success. It was organised by Corse and Staunton Village Hall committee and Staunton and District WI, attracting over 120 fashion-conscious women of all ages.
The village hall was a splendid venue for such an event, affording a spacious cat walk. The models from Just In and Nightingales were joined by three members of the WI, who volunteered and did a superb job with flair and a touch of humour from Kit Turner.
During the interval wine and nibbles were served. A large raffle was run and the proceeds will be shared between the village hall and WI. Derek Dickenson, hall chairman, and Ursula Groves-Smith, WI president, thanked everyone who had played a part.
