Two longstanding Malvern councillors will not be standing again for seats on Worc-estershire County Council.
Liberal Democrat Jenette Davy has represented Malvern Link for 20 years.
She said her departure would allow her to concentrate on the Pickersleigh Centre, which she has run since 1996.
"One of the main reasons I'm standing down is to let some new blood in," she said. "Bringing new people in means new ideas."
She said she hoped her replacement would focus on highway issues, including crossings and parking problems and stay enthusiastic.
Conservative Beryl Hickling served Malvern Link from 1989-1994 before the latest term and said the move would allow other people to stand.
"I support the view that others should be given a chance to join the council, especially younger people," she said.
The county council elections, also on May 5, will determine the political future of the 57-seat council, currently run by a Conservative minority.
It is made up of twenty-five Conservatives, fourteen Labour, eight Liberal Democrat, six Independent Kidderminster Hospital and Health Concern, one Independent and two Liberal.
