Alan Ayckbourn's comedy, about two couples, their secrets and a mystery pair of slippers, had an appreciative audience.
There was plenty of laughter and natural and convincing performances by the cast.
Ginny (Hannah Callaghan) and Greg (Evan Peach) are a young couple who want to get married. But Ginny has a secret, a former lover, Phillip (Chris Fear), who won't stop phoning and sending flowers.
Telling her fiance she is off to see her parents, she goes to break it all off. However, Greg follows to meet the new folks and mistakes Phillip's wife, Sheila (Helen Baker) for mum.
Mistaken identity and confusion follow in this very English comedy.
Everyone is so busy being polite, discussing the weather, the garden and offering cups of tea that it isn't until almost the end of the play that the characters work out who everyone else really is.
Despite the lies and affairs, these very English couples keep up the pretence and get their revenge - politely of course.
