STOURPORT Swifts manager Dave Titterton has challenged his side to finish the season in the top half of Southern League Division One West.

And the Walshes Meadow club will be certain of fulfilling Titterton's wishes if they bring Burnham to their knees at Wymers Wood Road tomorrow.

Heading into the campaign's final day, 13th-placed Stourport trail Burnham in 10th by two points, while Corby Town and Thame United, 11th and 12th respectively, go head-to-head.

"For me, this weekend has quite a bit of significance for us," admitted Titterton. "If we beat Burnham, we go above them and into the top half of the table, hopefully into the top 10 as well.

"At the start of the season that's where I said I wanted us to be. Getting into the top 10 was a realistic target.

"It would be a tremendous achievement to make it, especially when you put our situation into perspective. We've had a lot of injuries and the squad I've assembled includes a lot of young lads who have jumped up two or three leagues.

"I'm still disappointed that we didn't get into the play-offs, especially when I look at some of the games we should have won. But I've really enjoyed this season. It has flown by pretty quickly."

Titterton is not expecting wholesale changes in the summer, although he believes introducing a handful of fresh faces could give Swifts a better chance of a top-six place next term.

He added: "I'm anticipating a quiet summer. I'm looking to add two or three people to the squad, but apart from that, nothing else.

"The squad does need strengthening in a few departments and, hopefully, we can add a bit more experience.

"There is also the players coming back from long-term injury. John Newell has been getting the odd 15 minutes here and 20 minutes there. But there is also Bryan Small and Ronnie Sayer and they will feel like new signings."
