MEMBERS of the Malvern Referees' Society were critical of the way on which FA Cup Final Tickets were allocated, the Gazette reported 50 years ago.
At the society's meeting at the Beauchamp Arms, Malvern Link, chairman W Wilson said tickets allocated to referees' societies were to be given to active referees only.
Mr S G Phillpotts questioned whether it was fair that "stalwart, though not active" members were not allowed to participate in the draw. It seemed that the Malvern society was allocated three tickets each year for the cup final.
The society agreed to raise the matter with the county referees' association.
