MALVERN CC played their first Sunday game of the season on a sunny afternoon.
MALVERN SUNDAY XI v BUSHLEY
After the rain showers on Saturday, the ground was only just playable thanks to the efforts of groundsman Dave Hinton and Ian Walwyn.
Malvern captain Andy Croft won the toss and elected to bat first. An opening stand of 108 by A Dovey (69) and D Sharp (43) got Malvern off to a good start. When these two were out S Carter (46), M Mitchell (20) and R Francis (21) carried on the onslaught and finished on 214-4 off their 40 overs.
After a splendid tea, Malvern quickly started to take wickets. and Bushley never really got going, being bowled out for 59 off 19 overs.
Pick of the Malvern bowlers was S Whittaker with three wickets for 17 runs off eight overs and H Knight taking three wickets for three runs.
This Sunday Malvern play Worcester Nomads at home.
