WORCESTER Nomads played Colwall in a double fixture on Saturday.

At Bransford, the 1st XI entertained Colwall 1st XI and lost by 51 runs. Colwall took first knock and thanks mainly to Tom Wolfendale (35) and T Mcnamara (92), they finished their 40 overs on 176-10.

Nomads' best bowlers were Steve Bowman 4-13 and Ollie Butterworth 2-30.

Nomads were given a steady start by Malcolm Jones, Roger Dixon (25) and Danny Rees (38), but the batting just collapsed from 78-1 to 125 all out.

Best bowlers were B Ford 5-26 and B Weeler 3-8.

The 2nd XI fared a lot better winning by 11 runs. Nomads batted first with only Dave Pearson (16) and Matt Humphries (12) reaching double figures and Nomads were soon in trouble at 49-9. Nick Lloyd (22no) and John Goodreds then came to the rescue and put on 34 for the last wicket, giving Nomads a total of 83-9 off their 40 overs.

For Colwall, Sparks was striking the ball freely and then gave a return catch to Nic Lloyd who spilt the catch and ended up splitting his lip, he then went to A & E for treatment leaving Nomads with ten fielders. Dave Pearson then replaced Nic Lloyd and took 6-29, Colwall then proceeded from 26-0 to be 56-8.

Steve Butts making his Nomads debut mopped up the Colwall innings with 4-9, bowling Colwall out for 72.

On Sunday the 1st XI played Rushwick and was abandoned for bad light.

Nomads batted first and scored 278-4 off their 40 Overs.

Steve Bowman (113) and Andy Leach (70) blasted the ball to all corners of the ground, only Cooper 3-59, helped restrict the free scoring Nomads pair.

Rushwick then started cautiously and lost four quick wickets and with bad light pending, Cooper (48no) and Walls (38no) were left stranded on 143-4 off 30 overs.

The 2nd XI Played at Stanway and lost by two wickets in an exciting finish to a low scoring game.
