MUSICAL couple John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine are hoping to put on a faultless performance in Worcester next week with a show at the city's Huntingdon Hall.

The couple have been making music for more than 50 years and have a special place in the hearts of music lovers.

Dame Cleo Laine has several gold and platinum albums under her belt as well as Grammy and Tony awards and accolades for her achievements in recording, singing and with live acts on New York's Broadway.

She has performed in all of the world's most famous concert halls and is hailed as the 'Queen of Jazz', with a golden voice that spans the octaves, tackles every kind of music from opera to jazz.

Her husband John Dankworth is a consummate musician, composer, arranger, conductor and virtuoso woodwind player whose name has been synonymous with the crossing of musical barriers.

In addition to jazz, his huge range of musical activities include film scores, opera and ballet, musicals and choral and orchestral works.

He continues to perform with his jazz ensemble and big band and to conduct some of the world's great symphony orchestras.

And they will be joined on the night by John Horler on piano, Alec Dankworth on double bass, Allan Ganley on drums and Mark Nightingale on trombone.
