LIKE many of your readers, I am an undecided voter. In this case, I am undecided whether the Tory Party are suffering from collective amnesia or breathtaking hypocrisy.
Regarding immigration, which government cut the number of immigration officials with predictable results? The Tory Government under Mrs Thatcher. Mr Howard thinks that pensioners ought to get a better deal. Who broke the link between pensions and earnings? The Tory Party.
Mr Howard wants cleaner hospitals. We all do - but who contracted out hospital cleaning to private enterprise where profit is the first motive? The Tory Party.
Who has just admitted that he would take £1.2bn out of the
Health Service to pay for people who can afford to pay half the cost of a private operation?
Who privatised the railways to give us a lousy service with the highest fares in Europe? You guessed it, the Tories. Vote Tory and we will give pensioners a big rebate on council tax. Coming from the man who gave us the poll tax that is a bit of a U-turn isn't it?
