DOMINIC Cork ended Lancashire's long wait for a Frizzell County Championship triumph by producing a stirring performance to inspire a tense Second Division victory over Worcestershire at New Road.
Lancashire suffered the humiliation of relegation last season after failing to win a single match since their comprehensive 219-run triumph over Worcestershire at Old Trafford on May 14, 2004.
That sequence of 13 matches without a win was finally halted during a compelling final day with Cork engineering a victory by 76 runs after Worcestershire slumped to 191 all out, chasing a victory target of 268.
Cork claimed 3-37 during an impressive 10-over spell which all but ended Worcestershire's challenge by dismissing Graeme Hick, Ben Smith and hard-hitting Sri Lankan Chaminda Vaas.
