ACTIVITIES for young people living in and around Droitwich are among several proposals to be discussed by a body set up to improve the town and surrounding areas.
The Droitwich Area Local Strategic Partnership, which comprises community, voluntary and private sector representatives, including Wychavon District Council, is due to look at ways it can better provide for youngsters.
The suggestion came as a result of a meeting titled Just Imagine, organised by the LSP. It invited community representatives, parishes and public agencies to share their visions of how the town should be improved and identify priorities and challenges.
Also high on the participant's list were issues including more health facilities and encouraging people to get involved in improving environment.
Now the LSP intends to take these suggestions to the next stage at its meeting today.
"We will now start making plans about how we will take action on some of these issues," said Cherrie Mansfield, the district council's strategy and review manager.
Sue Poyer, manager of Droitwich Spa and Rural Council for Voluntary Service, said the aim now is for workable strategies.
"We want to compile a plan that will guide the partnership's work and make a real difference," she said. "It will help us gain maximum impact from our funds."
and lever in further cash to the area."
Ms Mansfield said the partnership was set up three years ago. One of its initiatives is Royal Rides , a transport scheme for people who can't get to Worcestershire Royal Hospital. It has been very successful," she said.
