PAUL Griffiths, Chairman of Worcester Lib Dems, writes (Letters, Friday, April 15) that the purchase of alcohol by 16-year-olds is not their policy because it was not debated at their conference.
It was, however, debated by Parliament. And on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 during a debate, it was definitely confirmed that it is Lib Dem policy to legalise drinking for 16-year-olds.
The denials locally to try to hide this ridiculous idea are typical of the Lib Dems who will promise anything to get votes.
