A SERIES of table-top sales ending with a St George's Day coffee morning raised nearly £1,000 for a little girl who has had both hands and feet amputated.
Joyce Lawrence from St Michael's Road, Claines, was so touched by the plight of six-year old Olivia Clarke - who had to have the amputations after she contracted meningitis - she decided to help out.
She sent out notices urging people to donate their unwanted bric-a-brac to help the young girl from Staffordshire, who had also suffered from the deadly superbug MRSA following her stay in hospital. "I would just like to thank all the people who helped," said Mrs Lawrence.
Pupils at Warndon Junior School also donated unwanted books and toys for a sale on Friday, April 22, raising £40.
Anyone who would still like to make a donation should send cheques, making them payable to the Olivia Clarke Fund , c/o Joyce Lawrence, 18 St Michael's Road, Claines WR3 7PD
