CHILDREN enjoyed celebrating May Day in traditional style at a Worcester school.
Pupils from Sunnyside School and Nursery danced around a Maypole forming a perfect set of plaits before parents untied the ribbons.
Nine-year-old Katie Fryer was crowned as May Queen at the Barbourne school and even a spot of rain could not spoil the day.
"We enjoy carrying on the old traditions and we are lucky to have Liz Wilkins on our staff who is an accomplished accordion player and country dance enthusiast," said headteacher Pat Lewis.
"Everything went very well despite the showers. The parents had umbrellas and the children just ignored it."
More pictures of the event will appear in the Worcester News this week.
