NEW disabled facilities were un-veiled at St George's Lane prior to the annual end-of-season fixture between Worcester City supporters.
The roofed viewing enclosure for wheelchair-bound fans -- situated near to the players' tunnel -- was dedicated in memory of former Worcester News sports journalist Tony Moore who died last year.
Worcester chairman Dave Boddy officially opened the facility with Tony's parents Kenneth and Muriel.
The £2,500 enclosure was funded by donations made at Tony's funeral, by the City Supporters Club, a Football Foundation grant and via the club's share issue.
Further disabled facilities are in the pipeline, including an access ramp to the social club and a disabled toilet block, as part of the club's disabled development programme.
Boddy said: "The viewing ramp can accommodate three fans and their carers near to the players' tunnel.
"It is raised and covered, which is a lot better than we've had before.
"This is phase one of a three phase programme at St George's Lane. We are mindful of how much we have got to do in the timescale. Phases two and three will soon follow.
"The club is always keen to pursue the sale of shares to aid the club's disabled development programme."
The supporters' match was won 3-2 by the 'away team' and they were presented with the Tony Moore Memorial Shield.
