A COUNTY councillor has expressed her sorrow at what she says is a dirty tricks campaign to remove her from office.
Pam Davey, who is standing for re-election in the Droitwich South ward, has hit out at claims in a leaflet posted through Spa letterboxes by Edgar Harwood, the Labour party's candidate for the ward.
The leaflet said Cllr Davey had let down the people of Droitwich Spa by voting against the town on a number of issues and urged them to vote for Mr Harwood instead.
Cllr Davey said: "I think its sad that in local elections someone should sink so low as to put out literature which is entirely misleading and in most instances basically inaccurate."
One of the claims included saying Cllr Davey voted for a Tesco supermarket to be built in Evesham but turned one down for Droitwich Spa.
Cllr Davey added: "I did not even know they (Evesham) had a new Tesco, let alone voted for it. I am not even on the planning committee so could not have voted on that item."
However when questioned about the claim that she supported the destruction of the Lido Pool she said she had better not comment because it may be seen as though she had supported it.
Edgar Harwood defended his leaflet.
He said: "None of it is misleading. It's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
"I have had a very good response on the doorstep and I feel confident about the election."
He added: "I was asked to tone the leaflet down by the Labour party so instead of saying Pam had betrayed the people of Droitwich I said she had just let them down."
