A YOUNG Spa farmer has picked up a top award for her part in a debate.
Cutnall Green Young Farmers' Club (YFC) member Karen Audis was presented with the Sidney Fawcett Trophy at the National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs' (NFYFC) annual general meeting in Torquay.
Karen was awarded the trophy for her contribution to a debate stimulated by an amendment put forward by the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs.
The amendment was in response to a motion from YFC's Council, which proposed that the members' national subscription levy be increased by three per cent for the following year.
Yorkshire's amendment asked that it be reduced by five per cent.
Karen spoke passionately in response and defended the increase, which she said was not too much to ask.
