DURING the 1960s and 1970s, it was reassuring to see Redditch Development Corporation looking after the environment by caring for the trees of Redditch and adding to them by planting over a million trees.
It has been a joy to live in Redditch and watch these trees mature.
It is with sadness we now have to watch mature healthy trees felled, sometimes for good reasons and sometimes for ridiculous reasons.
However, congratulations must be paid to the Redditch Borough Landscape Capital Group for the way they handled Headless Cross Centre by incorporating a re-planting programme, which has given back more trees than had to be removed.
Headless Cross Residents Association and landscape sub-group thank them and hope they will consult again on other strategic areas of Headless Cross that need to benefit from further tree planting for the enjoyment of generations to come.
