SOME of the biggest attractions in Astwood Bank Carnival's 18-year history have been the hugely popular concerts and this year promises to be no exception.
In the run-up to the big weekend there will be a Big Band Concert and Dance Night featuring Spaghetti Junction on Saturday, May 14, at Ridgeway Middle School
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of VE day, the concert will include wartime standards and music through to the modern day.
The concert will see the crowning of Carnival Queen Anneka Potter and starts at 8pm
On Friday, May 20, at 8pm, the highly esteemed Cooler Kings return by popular demand.
They will be performing a range of pop songs from the 60s and 70s and this year will be supported by Bottom Line disco.
The concert takes place in the Carnival Marquee on Edgioake Lane, Astwood Bank.
On carnival night itself, Saturday, May 21, at 8pm, the Official Receivers supported by DJ Yogi will provide the main attraction in the marquee.
Tickets for all the events cost between £7.50 and £8.50.
This year, the carnival is supporting a range of charities which help schools and community and religious groups.
Donations will also be made to the Worcestershire MacMillan Appeal, Redditch & Bromsgrove Parkinson's Disease Society and County Air Ambulance.
Tickets are available from Pete The Meat in Astwood Bank. For more information call 892925.
