ALCESTER is to get a brand new IT studio thanks to a joint venture between Stratford College and Warwickshire County Council.
The £250,000 project, which will be partly funded by Advantage Alcester, will see 20 computers set up in the town's library in Priory Road as a satellite operation for the college.
But they will also be available for community use during library opening hours, making access to the internet available to more people in the town.
The training room will be housed in what is currently a store room at the library and there will also be a meeting room attached.
Work is due to begin in June and it is expected the library building will be closed during July - though the facilities will be temporarily housed elsewhere.
It is expected to be complete and the new facility up and running by September.
The Priory Road building will close at the end of May and during the refurbishment, services will be available at Church House, in Butter Street, on Monday (9am-1pm), Wednesday (1pm-5pm) and Saturday (9.30am-12.30pm).
In addition, customers can drop off books at Globe House, Priory Road (open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm) and Bidford Library will be open for an extra day (Thursday, 9am-1pm and 2pm-5pm).
The book allocation will be doubled during this time.
