Worcester City are set to ground-share St George's Lane with neighbours Evesham United next season.

The newly-promoted Southern League Premier Division side plan to move from their Common Road base to a new stadium on Cheltenham Road for the 2006/07 campaign.

Building firm Bloor Homes are poised to complete the purchase of Common Road and Evesham may then be forced to leave the ground on January 1 next year, mid-way through next season.

It has left the Robins to search for a temporary home and Worcester have agreed to step in.

Evesham chairman Jim Cockerton said: "Bloor Homes are purchasing the ground but it's not quite done yet. It should not be too long before everything is settled.

"When the deal is done, then they will give us a date to move out of Common Road.

"They still have to gain planning permission, but we are still looking at January 1 next year to move out.

"In the meantime, we've got a ground-share agreement with Worcester City. But we want to move into our new stadium for the start of the 2006/07 season."

City chairman Dave Boddy said: "We have agreed with Evesham that, should they need to, they will be able to share our ground from January 1, 2006, to the end of the 2005/06 season.

"Obviously, it's a neighbourly thing to do. We might need the same sort of reciprocal favour in the future."
