Neighbours of the West Midland Safari Park are going wild over problems with the attraction's tiger pen.

They say cars are queuing too close to their homes to enter the drive-through enclosure and that an 18ft watchtower overlooks their property.

Planners agree and are recommending that a retrospective planning application allowing cars into the enclosure is refused.

Officials from Wyre Forest District Council are also concerned that the popularity of the White Bengal Tigers, the Bewdley attraction's newest feature, is increasing the likelihood of road accidents.

In the past five years there have been six collisions resulting in injuries, including two serious incidents, and a host of other damage-only accidents at the park's main entrance.

The council refused to discuss what enforcement action might take place if the application is refused at a meeting tonight.

The park said it would not comment on the matter until after the meeting.
