It's OK to ask - that's the message to patients and visitors at Worcestershire Royal Hospital who are being encouraged to join the battle against infection.
From this week, posters at the Royal, Kidderminster Hospital and the Alexandra in Redditch will display posters encouraging people to ask a member of staff, patient or visitor if they have used alcohol gel to clean their hands.
There will also be a leaflet, badges and stickers as part of the national 'cleanyourhands' campaign to eradicate infections such as lethal 'superbug' MRSA.
"There will be competitions - a prize will go to the person with the cleanest hands at the restaurant," said Diane Thomlinson, senior infection control nurse at the Royal.
"And the ward with the best 'cleanyourhands' poster display will be able to send two members of staff to a National Infection Control Conference in the summer."
Recent figures showed a significant year-on-year decrease in MRSA rates across the Trust.
