THE bodies of a couple who went missing in the tsunami disaster have now been formally identified.

John and Annie Hofton, of Wichenford, near Worcester, were holidaying in Khao Lak, Thailand, when the tsunami struck on Boxing Day.

John's sons Edward, aged 32 and Thomas, 30, and Annie's son Stacey Love, 37, flew out to continue the search for them but returned a few days later having given up hope of finding them.

The couple are among a total of 81 Asian tsunami victims whose bodies have now been recovered and formally identified, and inquests opened into their deaths.

More than 450 friends and relatives attended a memorial service for the Hoftons led by the Rev John Barr, vicar of Malvern Priory, in February.

Mrs Hofton, aged 57, owned women's fashion shop Tizzies in Belle Vue Terrace, Malvern, while her 62-year-old husband was a sales manager. A special memorial service is due to be held at St Paul's Cathedral, London, today.
