TWO members of Worcester Triathlon Club flew the flag for the Faithful City in the Netherlands.

Michelle Parsons, also a Great Britain elite team member, and Marc Scriven competed in the European Powerman Championship in Venray.

The event is comprised of a 15km run, 60km cycle and a final 7.5km run.

Parsons finished sixth out of 20 elite females and second in the GB squad.

Her first run of 15km was timed at 59 minutes 47 seconds and her cycle split of one hour 39 minutes made her the third quickest female. A finishing run of 36.34mins gave her a total time of 3.15.15.

Overall winner Ulrike Schwalbe of current world champions Germany, recorded a time of 3.04.05 for a runaway victory.

Scriven, in his first international event overseas, fell foul of the congested bike course and picked up a penalty for drafting, which cost him 15 minutes for an overall time of 3.31.45 and 135th place. Without the penalty, Scriven would have been placed 89th.

Nick Yarworth and Les Bailey took part in the Ashbourne Duathlon over a 12km run, 40km cycle and 4km run.

One of the toughest bike courses in the Duathlon calendar did not deter the pair and more than 200 competitors.

Yarworth and Bailey used the event as preparation for the European Duathlon Championship this weekend in Hungary.

Yarworth finished in 2.21.40, while Bailey, still recovering from a back problem, had to pull out of the race on the second run.

Worcester Triathlon Club was well represented at the Hereford Duathlon.

Held over a 5km run, 30km cycle and another 5km run, the star of the day was Daniel Keen who won the junior category in an excellent 1.31.16.

First home for the club was Yarworth in the male veterans section where he finished third in a time of 1.29.54.

Others competing were Tony Knight (1.40.24); Bailey (1.43.57) and Edward Garton (1.46.16).
