Eastnor 208-8

Droitwich Spa 154-8

Eastnor get a winning draw

CAPTAIN Steve Walsh scored his first half-century for Droitwich to help his side take a share of the points in the Worcester League Division One on Saturday.

Walsh (55 not out) formed a staunch partnership alongside Paul Bryan (51) to earn his side a losing draw.

Spa had seemed doomed to defeat after being reduced to 24-5 until the experienced duo made their mark.

Walsh opted to bowl first after his side had won the toss.

Mike Rogers handed his side a strong start when he removed opener Arshad (2).

Off spinner Martin Woodward continued to trouble Eastnor, taking three wickets in nine overs.

Richard Ferley caught Ishtaq (22) off Woodward's delivery.

Ferley then showed sharp reactions to collect Fortey's shot.

Woodward then completed his spell by bowling out the dangerous Adeel (50), as Eastnor were restricted to 84-4.

Karl Goddard dismissed Shahid to leave Spa in the driving seat.

However, Farreira (50) frustrated Droitwich's bowlers and guided his side to 208.

Spa's reply with the bat started disastrously, as Australian Josh Staines and Jerome Connor were both dismissed for lbw.

Ferley's dismissal (0) had Spa reeling on 12-3.

Gary Cartwright (9) missed a straight shot, before Rogers was dismissed by Adeel for lbw, as Droitwich collapsed to 24-5.

However, Walsh joined Bryan at the crease and sparked a fight back.

Bryan produced a belligerent performance on the way to his half-century, surviving a dangerous spell by Shahid with the new ball.

At one point Bryan did not score a run for 39 balls, but with Walsh scoring freely at the other end Spa managed to collect some crucial batting points.
