Harborne 282-8
Bromsgrove 260-8
Harborne get a winning draw
CAPTAIN Nick Davies saved Bromgrove from defeat against Harborne in Birmingham by hitting a century on Saturday.
The skipper showed a cool head to record 153 (which included 17 fours and seven sixes), while the rest of the Boars' batting order fell about him, to help his side to a losing draw in the Birmingham and District League Division One.
Davies had won the toss and put their Birmingham opponents into bat.
Nick Husbands found his line and length and had Wood (18) caught by Hamilton.
Husbands, who took 4-80, struck again by removing Gear lbw for 28.
Kish Patel (110-3) bowled out Lloyd (19), but South African Bailey (79) and Cockcroft (77) put the home side back in the driving seat - taking advantage of Dan Fisher's inability to find his rhythm.
Bailey's innings was ended when he was caught and bowled by Husbands, before Patel removed Cockroft.
Despite the breakthrough Moreton (46 not out) guided his side to 282-8.
The Boars' reply struggled to get out of first gear.
Apart from Davies the rest of Bromsgrove's order failed to make an impact.
Opener Julian Court (4) paid the price to trying a wide shot as he was caught by wicket keeper Clay.
While Davies made sure he stayed in he found little support.
New Zealander Nick Edwards (20) partnered the captain as Bromsgrove reached 53-1.
Nick Reade's (51) half century made sure Bromsgrove had a chance of reaching their target.
But once he was dismissed it was up to the captain to provide the solid foundation
Phil Barnes was dismissed cheaply, but John Duffy (7) provided support as his captain started to increase the run rate.
With 15 overs left the Boars needed 150 runs.
With three overs to go Bromsgrove were 30 runs behind Harborne's total, but hopes of an unlikely victory were ended when Bailey bowled out Davies.
