OFFICERS in the road-policing unit of North Worcester have moved to a new base at Rubery Police Station.
They will have the use of both marked and unmarked cars from the New Road building, as well as Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) equipment.
This consists of vehicle mounted cameras that automatically read the number plate of a passing vehicle and alert officers with an audible warning if the vehicle is wanted by police.
Inspector John Morgan, in charge of the road-policing unit, said: "I welcome the move to Rubery as this location is at the hub of major road networks that radiate to North Worcestershire.
"Our principal aim will be to reduce road casualties, but we will also take full advantage of the ANPR equipment to deny travelling criminals the use of the roads in North Worcestershire."
