HISTORY repeated itself when a scout group unveiled a stained glass window to the memory of three former members who died during World War Two.

The carefully refurbished window, which was originally unveiled on November 12, 1947, is in memory of former Evergreen Scout Group members John Brazier, Eric Wheeler and Oswald Teague.

The memorial window was originally at their former home at the loft at Whitford Hall. It will now take pride of place in the present scout headquarters in Kidderminster Road following the special memorial service last Saturday.

At the event Reverend Alan Cox re-dedicated the window and read the lesson using the original order of service.

Those present included family members of Eric Wheeler, who had recently been traced by the group, and also former and present members.

The window was unveiled in its new position by Val Fitzpatrick, the district scout commissioner for Bromsgrove.

"I am delighted to be a small part of preserving the history of this window, and thank the scout group and its members for their contribution," said Val.

The ceremony brought back many memories for Eric Wheeler's sister June Cox and brothers Roland, a former Evergreen scout, and John.

June added: "We were all so thrilled to hear about the ceremony at the scout headquarters and it is of special importance for me personally as I was present at the original unveiling ceremony in 1947."
