JOHN BICKERTON missed the cut at the Telecom Italia Open over the weekend by two shots.

The Droitwich professional finished the tournament at the Castello di Tolciniasco club with a level-par score of 144 after two rounds two shots off making it through to round three.

Bickerton started the tournament strongly, despite bogeying the second hole, by picking up shots on the first and second holes.

He returned to level-par by dropping a shot on the eighth, birdied the 11th and ended the day with a bogey on the 17th hole.

Despite a birdie on the first hole of the second round, Bickerton slipped back as he bogeyed the third and fourth holes and dropped two shots on the eighth hole.

Bickerton rallied with birdies at the ninth, tenth, 15th and 16th holes, but bogeyed the par-four 18th hole.

Belbroughton's Matthew Morris had a weekend to forget at the Firstplus Wales Challenge.

Morris started the event at the Vale Hotel and Golf Resort badley by carding a round of 82. He rallied on the second day with 76 but finished 12 over-par.
