DESPITE good knocks of 60 and 50 for Jon Boult and Mark Bennett, Bewdley lost by nine wickets to Ombersley in Crusader Worcest-ershire County League Division One.

Ombersley won the toss and put Bewdley in to bat with Boult and Bennett soon amassing a century opening partnership.

A score of more than 200 looked likely, although the off-spin of Neil Slade slowed them down and in the 37th and 39th overs Slade took three wickets as the score moved from 133-0 to 134-3.

Simon Mauger kept the scoreboard moving, for his 28no, but he had little support. Ombersley's reply began slowly against Robert Combes and Tom Baylis, Combes winning an lbw decision against Burden with the score on 13.

Catterall survived an appeal for a catch next ball, but then he and Calvin Flowers had little trouble hitting off the remaining 174 runs, against the depleted Bewdley attack, with seven overs to spare, and took 20 points, to Bewdley's three.

Bewdley seconds celebrated a five-wicket victory at Ombersley in the 2nd XI Division One. Scott Fowler's excellent opening spell of 4-34 off 15 overs saw him set them on their way by removing the Ombersley upper order.

Bewdley's reply started badly, and a middle order wobble left them up against it but David Meek smashed several boundaries in his unbeaten knock of 89 to see them through.

Peter Mauger hit 80 for the Cavaliers, but they were beaten by four wickets by Worcester. Mauger was well supported by Robin Wilson (45) as Bewdley got off to a great start.

In Worcester's winning total of 188-6 Will Escott was the pick of the bowling, with three wickets.
